March 11 (SeeNews) - Romania's trade deficit edged up by 50 million euro year-on-year in January to an estimated 1.32 billion euro ($1.5 billion), the country's statistical office, INS, said on Wednesday.
Exports rose by 3.3% and imports increased 3.4% on the year in January, INS said in a statement.
The European Union absorbed 78.1% of Romania's exports in the first month of 2020 and provided 72.8% of the country's imports. Machinery and transport equipment accounted for 48.1% of Romania's exports and 36.2% of imports.
Romania's trade gap widened by an annual 14% to 17.28 billion euro in 2019.
