December 28 (SeeNews) - Romanian electric trains and locomotive manufacturer Softronic said on Thursday it will deliver two locomotives to DB Cargo Romania Group, a unit of German railway company Deutsche Bahn's cargo division.
One of the two TransMontana locomotives will be delivered at the end of this month and the other at the end of April 2024, Softronic said in a press release.
The deal, whose value was not disclosed, will expand DB Cargo Romania Group's fleet to 27 locomotives that it has purchased from Softronic over a period of about ten years, the locomotive maker said.
Softronic's TransMontana locomotive is an electric locomotive equipped with six asynchronous electric motors and an electronically limited, continuously rated power of 6,000 kW.
DB Cargo Romania Group has been active since 2000. It operates over 70 locomotives, approximately 3,800 carriages and employs over 1,100 people.
Headquartered in the southern city of Craiova, Softronic is active in electric locomotive manufacturing and maintenance, and production of safety equipment for railway vehicles.
