March 13 (SeeNews) - Romanian provider of self-service payment terminals SelfPay said its net profit surged 188.3% on the year in 2023, reaching 10.8 million lei ($2.37 million/2.17 million euro).
SelfPay's total revenues climbed 23% year-on-year to 184.9 million lei during last year, the company said in a press release filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Transaction volume reached 5.2 billion lei in 2023, a 29% increase compared to the previous year.
The number of transactions through the company's app, launched in 2022, surged fourfold in 2023 compared to 2022, while user numbers tripled.
Established in 2009 as ZebraPay, the company operates Romania's largest network of self-service payment terminals, with over 10,500 payment stations nationwide, as well as units in Ireland and France. The payment stations offer consumers access to over 260 payment services, ranging from mobile phone top-ups to bill payments, taxes or loan repayments.
The company made its debut on the Bucharest Stock Exchange in 2021, with 3 million euro ($3.28 million) corporate bonds listed to support its national and international expansion.
