November 5 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output fell by 6.9% on the year in the first nine months of 2009, while imports decreased by 35.1%, the National Statistics Institute (INS) said on Thursday.
Romania's energy production totalled 17.159 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE), while imports reached 8.202 million TOE through September, INS said in a statement.
A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.

Romania's electricity output and imports totalled a combined 42.846 billion kilowatthours (KWh) through September, down by 12.5%. The country's electricity output dropped by 12.3% as well.
Romania’s electricity exports in the nine-month period fell by 37.4% on an annual basis, or by a net 1.469 million KWh.
