January 6 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Romania jumped 45% on the year to 8.69 million in the first eleven months of 2021, the statistics board, INS, said on Thursday.
Tourists spent 19.5 million overnights in Romania in January-November, up 41.5% year-on-year, INS said in a statement.
During January-November, the average duration of stay was 2.3 days for Romanian tourists and 2.2 days for foreign tourists.
In November alone, the number of tourists staying in Romania jumped by an annual 59% to 539,100 , while overnights jumped 56.6% on the year, to 1.064 million.
In November 2021, the average duration of stay was 1.9 days for Romanian tourists and 2.2 days for the foreign tourists.
The new data includes the impact of the Covid-19 crisis and of the measures taken by the authorities to curb the spread of the virus. At the time of the research, some 588 units were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, INS added.

The number of tourists staying in Romania fell by 52.3% on the year to 6.335 million in 2020.
