October 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output fell by 7.1% on the year in the first eight months of 2009, while imports decreased by an annual 35.5%, the National Statistics Institute (INS) said on Tuesday.
Romania's energy production totalled 15.269 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE), while imports reached 7.163 million TOE through August, INS said in a statement.
A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.

Romania's electricity output and imports totalled a combined 38.469 billion kilowatthours (KWh) through August, down by 12.4%. The country's electricity output dropped by 12.2% as well.
Romania’s electricity exports in the eight-month period fell by 36.7% on an annual basis, or by a net 1.334 million KWh.
