October 15 (SeeNews) - Romania's long- and medium-term foreign debt totalled 33.872 billion euro ($48.1 billion) at the end of August, up by a net 5.426 million/billion euro, or 19.7%, from the end of 2006, the country's central bank said on Monday.
Total foreign debt includes government and private debt.

NOTES: Romania paid 4.834 billion euro on its foreign debt in the first eight months of the year. The foreign debt servicing rate, calculated as the ratio of debt payments to total exports, was 20.4% at the end of August, compared to 19.5% at end-2006.
