February 7 (SeeNews) - Romania’s national energy regulator, ANRE, said on Tuesday that it has approved the payment of 11.1 billion lei ($2.426 billion/2.264 billion euro) in reimbursements to energy suppliers.
The total amount is 346.5 million lei higher than ANRE’s previous estimates published on its website on January 27, the energy regulator said in a press release.
The reimbursements are based on two government emergency ordinances outlining energy price caps and compensation schemes for the November 2021 – March 2022 period and the April 2022 – March 2023 period, respectively.
Eighty companies have submitted 345 settlement requests pertaining to the first emergency ordinance. Of these, 288 worth a total of 2.42 billion lei were approved. The second emergency ordinance attracted 942 requests from 89 companies. Of these, 703 worth a cumulative 8.74 billion lei were approved.
