October 21 (SeeNews) - Romanian car maker Automobile Dacia, a member of France’s Renault Group, saw its global sales rise by 4.5% on the year, to 144,604 units in the third quarter of 2022, in a market disrupted by the semiconductor crisis, the French parent announced on Friday.
Dacia’s third-quarter results accounted for 30% of Renault Group’s 481,263 total unit sales, making it the runner-up brand to Renault, which saw a 4.8% annual decrease, to 321,403 units, the group said in a press release.
The Sandero model remained Dacia’s best-selling vehicle to retail customers in Europe, while the Duster model reached 2 million sales since its launch.
Dacia Spring, the carmaker’s fully electric offering, summed up more than 45,000 orders in Europe in 2022, making it the best-selling electric vehicle to retail customers in France and the third best-selling in the entire European market.
The newly launched Dacia Jogger tallied 65,000 orders in 2022, of which 60% were for higher trim levels.
Renault Group added that despite the 4.8% decrease in its quarterly vehicle sales, it registered its best price effect, with a 12.8 percentage point increase over the quarter.
When adjusted for the disposal of the Russian unit Avtovaz, overall group revenues jumped by an annual 20.5% in the third quarter of 2022, to 9.8 billion euro, of which 9 billion euro ($9.59 billion) were attributed to automotive sales, up by 21.7% on the year, while 823 million euro were booked through Mobilize Financial Services, up by 8.4% on the year.
Renault bought Romania’s Automobile Dacia, an ailing state company at the time, in 1999.
Dacia is the runner-up in the SeeNews ranking of the 100 biggest companies by total revenue in Southeast Europe and has previously topped the list for seven consecutive years.
