March 29 (SeeNews) - Nuclearelectrica [BSE:SNN], the operator of Romania's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, said on Thursday that the plant's Unit 2 was disconnected from the grid due to a glitch in the electrical process system in the classical part of the power plant.
There is no danger for the personnel of the power plant, the public or the environment, Nuclearelectrica said in a press release.
The experts are investigating the cause and will carry out the necessary repair works, Nuclearelectrica said, adding that this event has no connection to the power reduction at the unit on Sunday.
On Monday, the plant's Unit 2 returned to full power, following a 55% power reduction on Sunday morning caused by the need to replace a component of the condensation pump engine in the classical part of the power plant.
Also on Sunday morning, Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 was shut down in a controlled manner following a defect in one of the process systems of the power plant and was reconnected to the grid on Tuesday.
Nuclearelectrica shares traded 1.21% lower at 8.19 lei by 1019 CET on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
