September 23 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian banks' outstanding loans to the non-government sector grew 12.8% year-on-year to 309.6 billion lei ($73 billion/63 billion euro) in August, compared to a 12.6% growth in July, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Private lending in lei increased by 17.5% on the year to 220.7 billion lei in August, after growing by 17.4% in July, BNR said in a statement.
Private lending in foreign currency rose 2.7% on the year to 89 billion lei in August, compared to a 2.5% rise in July.
