September 23 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian banks' outstanding loans to the non-government sector grew 3.7% year-on-year to 274.4 billion lei ($66 billion/56 billion euro) in August, compared to a 3.6% growth in July, the central bank, BNR, said on Wednesday.
Private lending in lei increased by 6.3% on the year to 187.8 billion lei in August, after growing by 6.1% in July, BNR said in a statement.
Private lending in foreign currency fell 1.5% on the year to 86.6 billion lei in August, compared to a 1.3% drop in July.
