October 16 (SeeNews) - Romania's Banca Transilvania reported on Tuesday a net profit of 133.51 million lei ($56.47 million/39.86 million euro) for the first nine months of 2007, up by 58.2% on the year.
The bank's gross profit through September rose by 67.5% on the year to 155.81 million lei, it said in a statement. Its assets grew to 11.421 billion lei at the end of September from 8.1 billion lei at the end of last year.
Banca Transilvania's shares gained 1.12% on the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Friday, closing at 0.9050 lei. They are currently suspended from trading in connection with a hike of the bank's capital. Trading will resume on Wednesday.
The bank's nine-month results were released after the end of BVB's trading session.
