September 24 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition authority said on Friday that it will consider the agreed takeover of the operations of eight local agricultural companies by Luxembourg-based private investment fund AMC Capital IV Scsp.
In order to determine whether the concentration is compatible with the normal competition environment, the Competition Council will consider the notified transaction under the merger regulation, the antitrust body said in a statement.

The eight companies to be acquired are Agrinatura, Silosud, Agrifarm Aliprod, Agroservice Piatra, Indipendenta G&T Perst, Agrinatura Serv , Agronica and Agritac. These companies mainly grow wheat, rapeseed, sunflower and corn in southern Romania.
AMC Capital IV Scsp will acquire the companies through its subsidiary AMC Capital IV Lux Sarl. The investment fund has been active since 2017, investing almost 264 million euro ($310 million) in 11 businesses in Central Europe, according to data posted on its website.
