BUCHAREST (Romania), July 15 (SeeNews) – Romania's Altex Group said on Thursday that it is establishing a tourism business unit together with local tour operator Karpaten Tourism.
Altex Travel will provide over 10,000 offers for holidays in Greece, Egypt, Turkey, the UAE, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, the Maldives, Dominican Republic, Zanzibar and Kenya, Altex Group said in a press release.
"We aim to become a major player in the market, to diversify our product portfolio and destinations and to offer our customers low prices for long-dreamed holidays," Altex Romania commercial director Edvin Abdulachim said.
The group will sell holiday packages through its Altex and Media Galaxy retail chains as well as its online store.
Founded in 1996, Karpaten Turism provides travel services in Romania and the Balkans.
Altex Group, established in 2000, comprises IT&C and electronics retailer Altex Romania, Complet Electro Serv, consumer loan company Credex, auto dealer Auto Moldova and software developer Axsys Business Technologies. Since September, the group also owns 79% interest in local IT equipment distributor Despec.
In June, Altex Group said that it plans to acquire 30% of Axionet IoT, a local company providing smart charging stations and solutions for electric and plug-in hybrid cars.
