June 9 (SeeNews) - A consortium comprising Romanian companies SA&PE Construct, Spedition UMB and Tehnostrade won a 383.8 million lei ($83.3 million/77.4 million euro) tender to build the final section of the Timisoara South ring road in western Romania, a senior official of the country's road infrastructure company, CNAIR, said on Friday.
The contracts covers works on a 26 km segment of the ring road and must be finished within 12 months from signing the contract, Cristian Pistol, director general at CNAIR, said in a social media post.
The contract will be financed through non-refundable European funds and can be signed within ten days after the winning bidder has been announced, provided no appeals are submitted.
As much as 58.26% of the Timisoara South ring road has been built by Italian company Tirenna Scavi, whose contract was terminated by CNAIR in December due to the company’s poor progress on the project and financial difficulties, CNAIR said at the time.
SA&PE Construct was established in Bacau in 2013. In 2022, it booked a net profit of 12.9 million lei on a turnover of 1.6 billion lei, latest data from the finance ministry’s website shows.
Spedition UMB and Tehnostrade, established in 1997 and 2004, respectively, are also based in Bacau and are both part of the UMB Group. Spedition booked a net profit of 137.9 million lei on a 2.1 billion lei turnover last year, while Tehnostrade recorded a net profit of 148 million lei on a turnover of 1.7 billion lei.
