August 18 (SeeNews) - The share indices of the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Tuesday mostly rebounded from Monday’s drops in lower volumes, with only the BET-FI index closing lower, brokers said.
The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, closed 0.96% higher at 4,010.75 points and the composite BET-C index gained 0.96% to 2,422.95.
The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, rose 1.29% to 8,416.19.
The BET-FI, which tracks the country’s five regional investment funds, the SIFs, shed 0.11% to 20,369.34 points.
“Today we witnessed quite a calm trading session [...]. The liquidity indicated a prettly weak activity, while the small price variations indicate a market slowdown,” one broker told SeeNews.
BVB’s turnover dropped to 13.1 million lei ($4.4 million/3.1 million euro) on Tuesday from 30.5 million lei on Monday. The number of traded shares decreased to 37.4 million from 55.2 million on Monday.
SIF 5 Oltenia ended 0.92% lower at 1.08 lei in Tuesday’s largest turnover of 3.5 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova ended unchanged at 0.91 lei on deals worth 2.05 million lei, the session's second highest turnover. SIF 3 Transilvania closed flat at 0.56 lei in the day’s third largest turnover of 1.6 million lei.
Blue-chip bank BRD ended up 0.9% at 11.2 lei in 931,000 lei turnover, while blue-chip peer, Banca Transilvania, advanced 0.75% to 1.34 lei in deals worth 1.87 million lei. Erste Bank, the first foreign stock trading on the BVB, gained 1.87% to 114.7 lei in 697,000 lei turnover.
Blue-chip brokerage SSIF Broker added 1.0% to 0.203 lei on deals worth 374,000 lei, and aluminium products maker Altur appreciated 1.41% to 0.0431 lei in 614,000 lei turnover. Real estate company Impact Developer & Contractor went 0.74% up at 0.408 lei in 575,000 lei turnover.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, rose 0.71% to 390.07 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, climbed 1.03% to 537.73 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged up 0.09% to 2,120.07. Turnover on the RASDAQ tripled to 3.4 million lei from 1.05 million lei on Monday, as 8,354,460 shares of engineering firm Prospectiuni changed hands in 374 regular transactions and one pre-agreed deal for a combined 1.7 million lei.
