August 11 (SeeNews) - The indices of the Bucharest bourse on Tuesday ended mixed for a second straight day amid volatile trading, reflecting developments on markets abroad, brokers said.
The BET-FI index, which tracks the country’s five regional investment funds, the SIFs, added 0.53% to 20,938.02 points. The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, closed 0.24% lower at 4,162.74 points.
The composite BET-C index edged down 0.17% to 2,506.84. The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, slid 0.2% to 8,648.48.
“The market was pretty volatile, following the high volumes yesterday, and everybody was expecting a pullback today. The bourse opened higher on positive signs from abroad. The market has been trending up so far and a correction could occur sometime in September,” one broker told SeeNews.
BVB’s turnover fell to 29.3 million lei ($9.8 million/6.9 million euro) on Tuesday from 45.7 million lei turnover on Monday. The number of traded shares decreased to 90.7 million from 94.2 million on Monday.
SIF 5 Oltenia rose 0.89% to 1.13 lei in Tuesday’s largest turnover of 6.8 million lei. Blue-chip brokerage SSIF Broker extended Monday’s gains, jumping a further 7.73% to 0.237 lei on deals worth 3.3 million lei, the session's second highest turnover. SIF 2 Moldova ended up 1.04% at 0.97 lei in the day’s third largest turnover of 3.1 million lei.
SIF 4 Muntenia ended 0.74% lower at 0.675 lei in 1.9 million lei turnover, while SIF 3 Transilvania was up 2.73% to 0.565 lei in 1.7 million lei turnover.
Blue-chip bank BRD slipped 0.86% to 11.5 lei in 1.7 million lei turnover, while its blue-chip peer Banca Transilvania ended 2.07% down at 1.42 lei in deals worth 1.1 million lei.
Blue-chip oil and gas group Petrom gained 0.76% to 0.266 lei on deals worth 557,000 lei. Blue-chip oil refinery Rompetrol Rafinare added 0.2% to 0.05 lei in turnover of 900,000 lei. Oil and gas company Dafora gained 5.03% to 0.0585 lei in deals worth 1.3 million lei.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, ticked down 0.05% to 403.21 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, advanced 0.72% to 554.14 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged up 0.31% to 2,080.95. Turnover on the RASDAQ fell to 1.5 million lei from 1.6 million lei on Monday.
