BUCHAREST (Romania), August 19 (SeeNews) – Courier services provider DPD Romania said on Friday it has invested 1.5 million euro ($1.69 million) in a new logistics centre near the capital Bucharest.
The centre will have a sorting capacity of 70,000 parcels per day, the company said in a press release.
This autumn, DPD will also expand its logistic capacity in Sibiu, in central Romania, to 50,000 parcels per day.
In February, DPD said it targets a 30% rise in turnover to 26.6 million euro in 2016, backed by a new business line and plans to invest 2.5 million euro in the upgrade of its logistic centres.
In 2015, DPD posted a 20.5 million euro turnover, up 23% on the year, and an undisclosed slim profit.
In 2014, Bulgarian courier company Speedy bought DPD Romania and GeoPost Bulgaria from GeoPost, owned by France's La Poste.
DPD Romania is active in the local market in 2008, following the takeover of Pegasus, the first urban delivery company in Romania, founded in 1997.
It has over 600 employees and suppliers in Romania and delivers 7 million parcels per year.
