January 7 (SeeNews) - French car maker Renault said its Romanian unit, Dacia, has opened its first sales outlet in Israel on Wednesnday, in Tel Aviv.
The Dacia Duster, Sandero Stepway, Lodgy and Dokker are the four models to go on sale in Israel, the 44th country where the Dacia brand is marketed, Renault said in a statement.
In 2015, the company is expected to open two Dacia-branded sales outlets, as well as a number of sales corners in selected Renault dealerships across the country. Carasso Motors, the Renault group’s long-time partner in Israel, will be responsible for sales and aftersales service.
“The Renault brand is growing in Israel and now has a 4.2% market share. The launch of Dacia will enable us to offer a new line of cars which will be complementary to the current Renault range,” Itzik Weitz, CEO of Carasso Motors, was quoted as saying in the statement.
New passenger car registrations in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association under the brand of Dacia rose 26.4% to 335,363 in the first 11 months of 2014, accounting for a market share of 2.8%
Renault bought Romania's Automobile Dacia, an ailing state company at the time, in 1999.
