SOFIA (Bulgaria), August 20 (SeeNews) - Romania posted the sharpest year-on-year increase, by 23.3%, in construction output among EU member states for which data is available in June, the bloc’s statistical office Eurostat said on Tuesday.

Slovenia recorded the third highest increase in construction production among EU28 in June, after Hungary, as its construction output grew by 5.5%, Eurostat said in a statement.

However, Slovenia and Romania recorded the biggest drops in construction output on a monthly comparison basis in June - by 6.7% and 2.8%, respectively.

Elsewhere in Southeast Europe (SEE), Bulgaria's construction output increased by 1.4% on the year and was 0.4% lower month-on-month.

Data for Greece and Croatia was not available.

On average, construction output in the EU dropped by an annual 0.6%, mostly due to a fall in civil engineering production, and was 0.3% lower month-on-month.
