ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- The European Commission would agree to a 180 million euro capital hike of Romania's state-owned CEC bank if the hike is not considered as state aid and private investors contribute 30% of the increase, the chairman of the country's Competition Council Bogdan Chiritoiu said.
- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has invested about 700 million euro in Romania so far this year, almost double compared to last year's investment, in order to help the country overcome the crisis, EBRD director for Romania Claudia Pendred said.
- Romania's flag air carrier Tarom ended the first half of 2009 with a 44.7 million lei loss, a fivefold increase over the forecast for the period made by the company, Tarom officials said.

- The real estate division of Italian group Pirelli, Pirelli RE, and Romanian UniCredit Tiriac Bank decided to close their joint venture company Pirelli RE Romania, operating in real estate management and investments, due to the unfavorable situation on the market triggered by the financial crisis, officials of the two companies said.

- Large Romanian companies have optimistic plans regarding the number of new emploeeys and the salaries they will pay next year, data from Mercer 2009 research showed.
