ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- Romanian northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca could be the first Romanian town to be assigned a rating by global rating agency Moody's, the daily quoted town's mayor Sorin Apostu as telling news agency Mediafax.
- Romanian diversified group Romstal extended its franchise network abroad in the first half of this year by opening eight shops in Russia and one in Ukraine, the company said.
- Romanian company EnergoNuclear, in charge of building a second pair of reactors at the country's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, has picked a consortium of AMEC, Iberdrola Engineering and Tractebel to conduct engineering works in a pre-project phase of the reactors' construction, deputy Economy Minister Tudor Serban said.

- Romanian President Traian Basescu said he will sign a decree to call a referendum on downsizing the country’s parliament to a single chamber with 300 seats, versus two chambers with a combined 471 seats now, even if the parliament will not agree with the proposal.
