- New cars registrations in Romania dropped by 74% on the year in September to 6,780, data from the car registrations division at the Interior Ministry showed.
- Romania's central bank will not cut the key interest rate further by the end of the year, but will keep it at 8.0% in a bid to support the local currency, the leu, UniCredit analysts said.
- Romanian winery Murfatlar sees its production rising 37% this year to 30 million litres. Its sales fell by 1.0%-2.0% in the first nine months to 110 million lei, Murfatlar brand manager Daniel Negrescu said.

- The Romanian government's decree forcing drug makers to contribute 5.0% to 11% of proceeds to the financing of the public healthcare system will lower the profit of Swiss drug maker Roche Group's Romanian unit by 11% in 2009 from more than 7.0 million lei a year ago, the company's general manager Dan Zamonea said.
