ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- Workers of the Bucharest underground railway system went on strike on Tuesday morning, seeking a 20% pay rise. The underground railway will remain closed until 1400 GMT.
- Several Romanian private pension funds has cut their combined share capital by more than 120 million euro due to losses posted last year, the daily reported. Among the funds, which have reduced their capital, are a unit of the Dutch banking group ING, ING Pensii, and U.S. AIG's fund in Romania, AIG Pensii.
- State-owned hydropower generator and supplier Hidroelectrica will open on Tuesday a new 34 megawatt hydro-power plant in Movileni, in southeastern Romania, following an investment of 650 million lei.

- Romania's dairy market is seen stagnating at the 2008 level of 1.1 billion euro this year if the upward trend from the second and third quarters continues by the end of 2009. Otherwise, the market may fall nearly 5.0%, the Romanian employers' association in the dairy industry forecast.
- Romania's largest oil and gas group OMV Petrom, owned by Austria's OMV, has entered the Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies in the 169th position. It is the only Romanian company that has made it into the ranking.
BUSINESS STANDARD
- Romanian power grid operator Transelectrica will borrow 35 million lei for one year from ING to finance its activities, Transelectrica director general Adrian Baicusi said.

- Romania's Health Ministry confirmed 1,397 infections with the A(H1N1) virus by Monday with 62 of them registered in the last 24 hours.
