ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- Not allowing the leu to appreciate versus the euro in nominal terms would be a wise monetary policy, because this can stimulate exports, Romania's central bank chief economist Valentin Lazea said. He added that the country's economic growth is still based on consumption, supported by foreign loans, instead of exports and investments.
- Some 58% of Romanian employers expect no changes in the local workforce market in the first quarter of 2010, while 15% of them forecast that the number of jobs will rise compared to last months of 2009, a survey carried by Manpower showed.

- Romania is among the countries least affected by economic crime, ranking 50th out of 54 countries, PriceWaterhouseCoopers' Global Economic Crime Survey 2009 showed.
- French Renault's Romanian unit, Dacia, said it will launch its new model, Duster, in Europe, Turkey, Algeria and Morocco in the spring of 2010, while starting with June the model will be launched under the Renault brand in Ukraine, the Middle East and Africa.

- Romanian power grid operator Transelectrica plans to invest 450 million lei next year to upgrade its power distribution stations, the daily reported quoting news agency NewsIn.
- Romanian retail market is seen contracting further in 2010, mainly in the first half of the year, while hard discount and online stores will be the only ones advantaged by the crisis, local retail chains said.
