April 8 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at Turkey's airports were down 19% year-on-year in the first three months of 2020, reaching 33.6 million, compared to 41.4 million recorded in the same period last year, statistical data by the country's airport authority shows.
Turkey's airports served a total of 14.1 million international passengers in the first quarter, 16% less on an annual comparison basis. Domestic traveller numbers fell 21% to 19.5 million, according to data published by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI).
In the three months under review, the number of total aircraft movements, including overflights, decreased by 11.4% on the year to 376,107.
Total freight traffic dropped 9.3% year-on-year in the January-March period to 739,859 tonnes.
