February 16 (SeeNews) - Orange Romania, a unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange, said on Tuesday its revenues rose by 7.4% to 947 million euro ($1.06 billion) in 2015, led by an increase in mobile services and, to a lesser extent, by higher mobile equipment sales and fixed television services.
In the fourth quarter alone, the operator generated 250 million euro in revenues, the company said in a press release.
Orange Romania had 10.177 million clients at the end of 2015, up by 4% on the year.
The operator also said its 4G network is the most wide-ranging in Romania, covering 96% of the urban population and 72% of the entire population at the end of 2015.
Consumption of 4G mobile data continued its upward trend, being six times higher in 2015 than in 2014, Orange Romania said.
On the TV segment, the company had over 275,000 subscribers in 2015, up 75.4% from a year earlier.
Romania’s market of just over 20 million is served by five mobile operators - Orange Romania; Telekom Romania, former Cosmote Romania; RCS&RDS; Vodafone Romania; and 2K Telecom.
Orange also said its revenues from operations in the Central European countries rose 2.9% in 2015.
At group level, Orange posted a net profit of 2.9 billion euro compared with 1.2 billion euro in 2014, while turnover declined slightly by 0.1% to 40.2 billion euro.
Orange Group, formerly known as the France Telecom is present in 209 countries and has 247 million customers, of which 185 million are mobile subscribers.
