September 26 (SeeNews) - NATO Trust Fund has invested 850,000 euro ($930,000) in the construction of a shell disposal workshop at Serbia's main demilitarisation facility TRZ Kragujevac, the Serbian defence ministry said.
The total investment in the workshop, which will extract explosives from missile shells, stood at 900,000 euro, as 50,000 euro of the total were provided by TRZ Kragujevac, the defence ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Serbian defence ministry has also opened a 1.84 million euro workshop for the modernisation and maintenance of ammunition at TRZ Kragujevac. The Serbian government provided 1.62 million euro for the project while the remainder was allocated by the demilitarisation factory.
As at June 2019, the NATO Trust Fund had provided 1.2 million euro to Serbia as part of an assistance project to TRZ Kragujevac to demilitarise Serbia’s remaining stocks of surplus ammunition. The project was launched in March 2016.
