SKOPJE (North Macedonia), February 17 (SeeNews) – Passenger numbers at North Macedonia’s international airports in Skopje and Ohrid dropped 69% year-on-year to 57,793 in January, Aeroports de Paris (ADP) said.
In the last 12 months, North Macedonia’s international airports served 656,720 passengers, down 76% on the year, ADP said in a statement on Tuesday.
Aircraft movement at the airports fell 53% on the year to 704 in January, while in the last 12 months the figure plunged by an annual 63% to 8,220.
ADP owns 46% of Turkey’s TAV Airports, the company operating the airports in Skopje and the lakeside city of Ohrid.
North Macedonia confirmed its first case of coronavirus on February 26. In mid-March, the government ordered the closure of its two airports to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The two airports reopened in July.
