SKOPJE (North Macedonia), March 17 (SeeNews) – Passenger numbers at North Macedonia’s international airports in Skopje and Ohrid decreased 70% year-on-year to 104,096 in the first two months of 2021, Aeroports de Paris (ADP) said.
In February alone, North Macedonia’s international airports served 46,303 passengers, down 72% on the year, whereas in the last 12 months through February, passenger traffic slumped 80% to 536,264, ADP said in a statement on Tuesday.
Aircraft movement at the airports fell 55% on the year to 1,304 in the January-February period, while in the last 12 months the figure plunged by an annual 67% to 7,425. In February alone, aircraft movement at the airports was down 57% on the year to 600.
ADP owns 46% of Turkey’s TAV Airports, the company operating the airports in Skopje and the lakeside city of Ohrid.
North Macedonia confirmed its first case of coronavirus on February 26. In mid-March, the government ordered the closure of its two airports to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The two airports reopened in July.
