SKOPJE (North Macedonia), November 25 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production rose by an annual 10.8% to 491,509 MWh in September, the statistical office said on Monday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output in September also increased, by 11.2% to 463,811 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of the gross domestic electricity production, generating 264,138 MWh, which was 11.3% more than in September 2018.
Combined heat and power plants generated 157,989 MWh in September, up from 86,521 MWh generated in the same month last year.
Hydro power plants followed with 54,932 MWh of electricity output, down 46.5% compared to September 2018.
Electricity generated by wind parks fell by 28.4% year-on-year to 7,389 MWh, while biogas plants’ output rose 7.6% to 4,720 MWh. Solar parks produced 2,341 MWh of electricity in September, down 3.2% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports fell by an annual 3.6% to 146,556 MWh, while electricity exports rose by 60.0% to 101,532 MWh.
Distribution losses decreased by 1.3% on the year to 40,692 MWh in September.
