June 28 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia received 500,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Chinese company Sinovac on Sunday, the health ministry said.
The shipment of the doses will speed up the vaccination process throughout the country, North Macedonia's health ministry said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Furthermore, North Macedonia received 100,620 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine through the COVAX mechanism on Friday, health minister Venko Filipce said in a Twitter post.
As of June 26, a total 214,571 citizens of North Macedonia have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, health ministry data shows. The country has a population of about 2 million.
COVAX is a global initiative aimed at providing countries with equitable access to safe and effective Covid-19 vaccines, once they are licensed and approved.
