October 28 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade gap widened by 48% in the first nine months of 2022, to 3.16 billion euro ($3.14 billion), the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports rose 72% year-on-year to 520.3 million euro in the January-September period, while imports went up 44% to 2.64 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first nine months of 2022 were Switzerland, which attracted exports worth 104.8 million euro in the review period, Serbia with 103.4 million euro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 69.9 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly in Serbia, which accounted for 451 million euro worth of imports, China with 238.6 million euro, and Greece with 221.6 million euro.
Montenegro's trade deficit expanded by 18.9% to 2.067 billion euro last year.
