PODGORICA (Montenegro), July 29 (SeeNews) – Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 1.4% on the year to 884.5 million euro ($1.05 billion) in the first half of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports rose 20.5% to 202.4 million euro in the January-June period, while imports went up 4.5% to 1.087 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first six months of 2021 were Serbia with 53.7 million euro, Bosnia with 15.9 million euro and Italy with 13.0 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia, which accounted for 216.5 million euro worth of imports, Germany with 108.5 million euro, and Italy with 71 million euro.
In 2020, Montenegro's trade deficit declined by 20.5% to 1.738 billion euro.
