May 17 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's annual consumer price deflation softened to 0.7% in April from 0.9% a month earlier, data from the country's statistics office showed on Tuesday.
Food prices, which have the largest weight of 35.2% in the consumer basket, fell 1.9% year-on-year last month, after a 2.5% drop in March, the data indicated.
Deflation in the transport segment (10.7% weight) softened to 5.9% from 6.5% in March.
Housing and utilities prices (15.5% weight) rose 0.4% on the year, slowing from a 1.1% increase the month before.
Month-on-month, Montenegro's consumer prices rose 0.4% in April, reversing a 0.1% decline in March.
