June 12 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Montenegro Airlines aims to acquire two Embraer 195 from Irish–American commercial aviation financing and leasing company GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), Montenegrin media reported on Friday.
Montenegro Airlines currently operates the two aircraft under lease from GECAS, which implies an annual cost of 3.7 million euro ($4.2 million), and is interested in acquiring them, news portal Cafe Del Montenegro quoted representatives of the flag carrier as saying.
"The agreements are in force until 2023 and 2024, we will try to reach a favourable arrangement with the company and purchase the aircraft before the agreements expire," the news portal quoted the representatives of Montenegro Airlines as saying.
Montenegro Airlines owns one Fokker 100 aircraft and operates three Embraer 195 planes under rent. Two of the Embraer 195 aircraft are leased out by GECAS, while the other one has been operated under financial leasing with Brazil's BNDS bank since 2010.
