August 18 (SeeNews) - Transdniestria's July monthly inflation slowed to 0.2% from 0.6% in June, the central bank of Moldova's breakaway region said on Tuesday.
Transdniestria had a cumulative deflation of 0.7% in the first seven months of the year, the central bank said in a statement.
The rebel region's end-year inflation slowed to 25.11% in 2008 from 29.42% in 2007.
The region, with a population of 700,000, considers itself an independent state. Moldova has offered it a broad autonomy but Transdniestria, led by President Igor Smirnov, is seeking full independence.
