May 18 (SeeNews) - Moldova's trade deficit widened by 26% on the year to $1.232 billion (936 million euro) in the first three months of 2023, the country's statistics bureau said.
Moldova's exports inched up by 1.2% on the year, while imports increased by 31% in the first quarter of 2023, the statistics office said in a statement on Wednesday.
The European Union absorbed 62% of Moldova's exports in January-March and accounted for 48% of the country's total imports.
In March alone, exports edged down by 2% on the year to $388 million, while imports rose 9.7% to $821.2 million. The trade deficit in March expanded by an annual 23% to $433.2 million.
