December 12 (SeeNews) - Moldova's consumer prices rose by 31.41% year-on-year in November, compared to an increase of 34.62% in the previous month, the National Bureau of Statistics, BNS, said on Monday.
The main inflation driver in November were food prices, which added 33.09% year-on-year, BNS said in a statement.
Prices of non-food products rose 21.2% on the year in November, while the cost of services increased by an annual 44.74%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Moldova's consumer prices rose 1.02% in November. Food prices rose 0.8%, while non-food prices were up by a monthly 0.9%. Consumer prices in the services sector added 1.53% month-on-month.
Since the beginning of 2022, consumer prices rose by 29.3%, the statistics office added.
On November 15, Moldova's central bank BNM decreased its 2022 inflation projection to 28.8% from 29.5% forecast in August.
On December 5, BNM decided to lower its policy rate to 20%, due to a disinflationary trend, aiming to create more attractive conditions for providing credit to the real economy and to the population.
