December 21 (SeeNews) - Moldovan banks' total assets amounted to 69.29 billion lei ($5.7 billion/4.3 billion euro) at end-November, 1.46% higher than a year earlier, the central bank said.
The tier-one capital of the banks, which includes common stock and retained profit, totalled 30.8 billion lei at the end of November, 1.84% down on the year.
Return on assets (ROA) grew to 1.28% at the end of November from 0.19% a year earlier. Return on equity (ROE) was 7.11%, up from 1.01% at the end of November 2009.
The share of foreign capital in Moldova's banking system rose to 78.37% at the end of November from 75.58% a year earlier.
Moldova has 15 commercial banks.
