October 5 (SeeNews) - Moldova said that it will try to curb imports of wheat, maize and sunflower seeds by implementing a licence requirement to stabilise domestic cereal prices, agriculture minister Vladimir Bolea said.
Only entities engaged in the production of vegetable oil, livestock feed and grain mill products, as well as those active in livestock rearing will be eligible for import licenses, Bolea said in a televised press briefing on Wednesday.

The measure, which comes on the back of market disruptions spurred by the war in Ukraine, will be in effect during the state of emergency and is aimed at protecting local agricultural producers and processors.
Applications for import licences must be accompanied by documents that attest to the need to replenish stocks.
Goods that have already been loaded for shipment by Wednesday will not be subject to the new licencing measure.
