March 7 (SeeNews) - UK-based aviation services provider Menzies Aviation said it has taken over the ground handling services at Serbia's Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport [BEL:AERO], operated by French airport group Vinci, effective March 5.
Under the contract, Menzies Aviation will provide ramp handling and baggage, de-icing and passenger services, as well as passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) services and air cargo services at the airport, it said in a statement earlier this week.
In October, Menzies Aviation said it had signed an agreement with Serbian flag carrier Air Serbia for passenger and ramp services starting February 2024. This agreement will result in local teams managing more than 22,000 turns in the first year at Serbia's largest and busiest airport, Menzies said in this week's statement.
Menzies Aviation has operations at more than 255 airports in 60-plus countries, serving more than 4 million flights a year and handling over 2 million tonnes of cargo. It has a team of over 42,000 people providing passenger, lounge and ramp services; air cargo services; and fuel services.
