PODGORICA (Montenegro), May 18 (SeeNews) – Montenegro will shortly see the launch of a Maltese project for a wind power plant (WPP) worth some 80 million euro ($90.2 million), the ex-Yugoslav republic's government said on Wednesday.
It would be the first ever investment of the island country in Montenegro, the government said in on Twitter during an official visit by prime minister Milo Djukanovic in Valletta without providing further details.
Back in January the economy ministers of Montenegro and Malta signed a declaration on economic and technical cooperation, which reinforced the implementation of a project for the construction of the 46 MW Mozura WPP by Maltese company Enemalta.
In 2010, Montenegro signed with a consortium led by Spain's Fersa Energias Renovables a contract for a 20-year lease on 502,858 sq m of land, at a price of 0.37 euro per sq m, for the construction of the Mozura wind farm.
However, last year the government announced it would be transfering the lease and construction contract to the Maltese firm.
