November 10 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Macedonia increased by an annual 16.7% to 818,594 in the first nine months of 2017, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 6.9% year-on-year to 309,056 in January-September, whereas the number of international visitors increased 23.7% to 509,538, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in Macedonia in the review period increased 12.4% year-on-year, reaching 2.39 million.
In September alone, the total number of tourists staying in Macedonia rose 23.9% year-on-year to 104,120, with 78,720 of them coming from abroad.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists, who visited Macedonia in September, 20.6% came from Turkey.
