SKOPJE (Macedonia), November 18 (SeeNews) – Macedonian-Bulgarian company Sirma & Pelister is building a 1.5 mln euro ($2.0 million) milk processing plant in Bitola, in southwestern Macedonia, Skopje-based media reported.
The construction of the plant is to be completed by next June, Utrinski Vesnik (www.utrinski.com.mk) quoted one of Sirma & Pelister's owners, Tode Ivanovski, as saying.
Sirma & Pelister has restarted recently the Mlekara Prilep dairy factory located in Prilep, near Bitola, the daily said.
Currently, Mlekara Prilep is processing just eight tonnes of milk per day, or a fifth of its installed capacity of 40 tonnes. However, the plant's capacity is planned to be expanded to 60 tonnes of milk per day, Utrinski said.
Seventy percent of Mlekara Prilep's output is aimed for exports.
Sirma & Pelister has already invested 400,000 euro in Prilep's dairy to implement the HACCP food safety standard.
