February 2 (SeeNews) - Total loans to households in Croatia rose 1.2% on the year but fell 0.2% on the month to 119.078 billion kuna ($20.0 billion/16.0 billion euro) at the end of December, the local unit of Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) said on Friday.
Household loans in local currency continued to grow, reaching 48% of total loans at the end of December, up from a share of 42% at the end of 2016, Raiffeisenbank Austria Zagreb (RBA) said in a market report.
Housing loans made up 44.4% of total loans to households, while their value increased by 327.3 million kuna on the year. They were followed by general purpose cash loans with a 36.1% share and a rise in value of 2.2 billion kuna year-on-year to 43 billion kuna.
RBA noted that the recovery of total lending to households in the year ahead will be modest and largely dependent on labour market trends.
