January 14 (SeeNews) - Lidl Bulgaria, a unit of German discount store operator Lidl Stiftung & Co, will expand its logistics and distribution base in the village of Ravno Pole, east of Sofia, local media reported.
The expansion project envisages the construction of 18,000 sq m of new space, including a 12,000 sq m of office space, news outlet Capital.bg reported on Wednesday.
The value of the investment in the project was not disclosed.
The project is part of Lidl Bulgaria's expansion plans for 2021, the company said. Capital.bg reported earlier this month that Lidl Bulgaria is planning to open at least five new stores this year.
Lidl Bulgaria has two logistics centres and intends to build a third one near Sofia, where around 250 people are expected to be employed, it said in a filing to Sofia Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water last year.
Currently, Lidl has over 100 stores in 49 locations across Bulgaria and employs about 3,000 people.
