SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 13 (SeeNews) – Latvia's Regional Investment Bank (RIB) has opened its first branch in the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna, the bank said in statement.
The bank started operations on October 1.
“Varna is a sea port just like Riga or Odessa, and our customers own terminals, grain storages and other business facilities are located there. So we will provide services to their businesses in Varna," RIB’s board deputy chairman Alexander Kuperman said in a statement posted on RIB's website.
"We are following our customer needs and our branch in Varna proves it," he added.
As of end-September, there were 24 banks operating in Bulgaria and six branches of foreign banks, including RIB's new unit, according to data from the central bank.
