December 19 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's government inaugurated a new industrial park near the southeastern town of Viti, in which it has invested 1.7 million euro ($1.86 million), prime minister Albin Kurti said on Tuesday.
Businesses that will operate in the new industrial park will benefit from lower electricity, internet and water prices, as well as easier access to transport, which will reduce their investment costs by up to 30%, Kurti said, as seen in a video posted on social media.
The industrial park spreading on an area of 15.5 hectares aims to attract sustainable business ventures from Kosovo diaspora and foreign investors, manufacturing companies employing more advanced technology, as well as promote youth employment and business competitiveness.
In January, the government of Kosovo said it approved a regulation on the establishment of industrial and technological parks across the country.
Last month, Kosovo's capital, Pristina, inaugurated its first technological innovation park, supported by a 1.2 million euro investment.
Kosovo is also building industrial parks near the central town of Lipjan and the northern town of Vushtrr. Industrial parks near the northern town of Mitrovica and the southern town of Suhareka are already operational.
